Whether you are planning a girl’s weekend or a guy’s get-away, Stanford and Lincoln County have plenty to entertain. Downtown Stanford offers a curated selection of hand-made items, home decor, antiques, farm-to-table dining and good ol’ southern charm, while Cedar Creek Lake is ranked 30th in the nation for bass fishing by Field and Stream magazine. Our waters, including the Dix River, are great for kayaking and canoeing too!
More of a history buff? Lincoln County traces its roots to some of Kentucky’s earliest settlers and boosts many firsts including Kentucky’s first governor, Isaac Shelby; first chartered school in the state; first brick house in Kentucky, the William Whitley House; first courthouse west of the Alleghenies, and America’s first counter clockwise race track. Our county archives are the oldest in the state, dating to 1779, and contain property records for land owned by Daniel Boone, in addition to records written on sheepskin.
